wiring system help!!!

This is for my bros 2002 Pontiac Firebird Coupe (without moonson pkg).

"I bought (2) RFD2110 subs and a hifonics 1500 mono D Brutus amp, I still have not installed them. I recently bought and installed 4 Pioneer REV 6.5 oversized speakers and a Pioneer DEH-7500MP head unit. I plan on runnin the 2 subs @ 2 ohms off the hifonics amp @ 1000 watts

My problem is not the bass but the trebble of the system. I believe my subs will be too strong and i wont hear the words everytime the bass hits. I believe i should get tweeters but my head unit will not provide enough power so i need another amp. I plan on getting another amp but i dont know how many channels i need on the amp or how to set up the wiring configuration.

I was thinking of getting a 4 channel amp and bridging 2 channels so this way i have a 3 channel amp. The 1st channel will run the (2) front 6.5 speakers, the 2nd channel will run the (2) 6.5 rear speakers, and the bridged channel will run the 2 tweeters. Is this configuration possible?

I also thought about running the (2) rear 6.5 speakers off the head unit and runnin the 2 tweeters and the (2) front 6.5 speakers off a 2 channel amp but i dont know how to wire it and whether it will work.

Are there any other options i have?

Also, will i need a capacitor or a dry cell battery?"

Sorry for the long post but your input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mena

ok...First off you cannot setup one channel of an amp to power front speakers. (well, I guess you could..but it would not be stereo nor would you have left to right balance) He would want either a 4 channel amp and bridge it to 2 channels to power the whole front stage speakers and run the rear speakers off the HU or just use a 2-channel amp. There will not be a problem hearing the words when the bass hits. Try using the just the front speakers fro now and if he needs more highs then you coudl look at some tweeter kits, but I doubt he will.

YOu should not need a Drycell battery and definately do not need a capacitor

So he doesnt need tweeters and to just run the four speakers on a 4 channel amp?

If so, how much wattage to the speakers should he send? The speakers are 60 watts RMS, 250 Peak. What would you recommend?

Ok, Did the tweeters com with a crossover? Were they part of a component set or were they purchased seperately? What are the 6.5's, both brand and model?

So far all I can give you is a yes on the four channel amp, a no on your wiring configuration, a yes on the dry or gel cell battery, a no on the capacitor.

I am very glad you asked these questions. It is fairly easy to add sufficient bass to a system. It is not as easy to set up front stage with proper imaging without it sounding muddy and/or distorted.

With the info I requested, the answers will come.

I have not yet purchased tweeters. The speakers are Pioneer TS-D170R 6 3/4 oversized speakers REV series, they are 2 way speakers 60 watts RMS and 250 watts peak.

You will want about 50-60W RMS per channel. More power will not hurt either. As long as you have clean power. So 100-150W channel is acceptable too. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

Just my input here. Don't worry about buying the extra treeters. After you intall the system, tune it to your liking. all of your highs will come from the doors. If this is not enough output, get a lowpass filter for the tweeters so they only recieve higher frequency ranges. I will suggest the Alpine MRV540 for those speakers. I have had experience with this amp and like it. You can pick it up for about $300 shipped.

If you still desire more highs and decide to buy the new tweeters. They will be powered sufficiently from the front channel from the deck. Wire from the front two channels to the capacitors then to the tweeters. I will also recommend that you mount them as close to the midbass(indoor) driver as possible. Trust me that you will be much happier with this mounting location.

Thank you so much filtor1 and Rider69 for all the input, I will hook up my pioneer speakers on a four channel amp and the subs off the hifonics amp and see how it sounds. If i need more highs ill try what filtor1 suggested and buy tweeters, mount them near the midbass, and run them off the head unit.

Do you guys know of a good 4 channel amp that runs 100 watts @ 4 ohms thats around $150? I looked at the Alpine MRV540 amp and its too high for my budget. I dont need a brand name amp, just anything to run these suckers and make them sound good.

Thanks again and please keep posting, your ideas are great and very usefull!!

Here are a few. I would go for the JBL for the cost per watt/quality of the amp. But here are a few options.

Ok i found two amps but i dont know what the difference between the two is and which one to get, so if you guys can help me out that would be great. They are both on ebay.

The first on is:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...708129322&rd=1

The second is:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...707383237&rd=1

The reason I am goin with the Hifonics is because the amp runnin my subs is a Hifonicis.

Thanks again,

Being that they are both about the same price and the features are the same, I would go for the one that has the higher output.

So far I've finished all the wiring and set up in the car. I'm still waitin for the box to come in to finish up the system. So far this is what I have. Just click on the link below and to make the pics bigger just save them on your comp and view them there. Let me know what you guys think or recommend.
