Bass cuts out @ high volumes

I can't figure it out we've gone over the wireing twice there's no problem there, the groung is good, we uped the cables to 1/0 guage, the only thing I can think of now is that maybe the bat is a little old. I can't imagine that we could need a new alt, we're only talking about 1300watts.

I'd love to here from any of you about similar experiances and or what your solution was.

here's what I have:

Alpine CDA-9835
JL 300/4
JL 1000/1
2 x JL 12w6v2
1.5 farad stiffining cap
4 guage power and ground

How do you have the sub hooked up to the amp? What impedance is the amp seeing? JL only rates their amps to 1.5 ohm and if you all the coils wired in parallel, then it is seeing 1 ohm and coudl be shutting down at high volumes due to this. You need to be sure they are wired to provide a 4 ohm impedance to the amp. You will still get the 1000W due to the amps design. So it should be: each woofer wired in parallel to have 2 ohm and both woofers wired in series for the 4 ohm load.

Also, You coudl lose the cap and it will not change things. Cap are pretty useless.

Yeah thanks but the amp IS seeing 4ohms.
The cap was just a "god i hope this works" kinda thing.

Does the amp have any lights on it to give you an idea? Is it powering off? I would get a DMM and measure the Re of the subs just to double check the load. I would also monitor the input voltage to the amp and make sure that it isn't dropping too low.

I had a similar problem end up being a bad crimp on my remote turn on wire. Give all your connections a bit of a tug to make sure they are all good.

i had this problem before. what guage wire are you running to the HU for power/ground and where do you have it grounded? i ran 8awg wire for the pwr/gnd on my HU and it solved the problem for me.

Ive been having this problem with my setup. Right before my subs blew out and i fried the voice coils.. it was because my amps were overheating in my amp rack... Hope that helps!

did you or did you not upgrade your power wire?
