Painted my dash, and center console, and installed a 7in lcd in my 2k2 *PICS

At last I had finished my TV install. I took me the blunt of my vacation time, but it is done. I took approx. 60+ pictures, but I only resized about 10 or so pics that were important. This job was much more arduous then expected, so I would not like to do this again, and I am glad it is completed.

I think over all, it came out rather well. This was my first time EVER attempting anything like this, so please keep that in mind when looking at the pics. I do have a few imperfections, but I am willing to accept them. All I had for learning was the Internet, and that did not help out much. I did have some help with a few things from my brother, but I had to do 95% of the work.

I was going to do a write-up, but this project was so labor intensive that I may not do one unless you guys really want one. But I will take me a couple of weeks to finish it.

As for a video source, I am using a ps2 mounted under the driver side seat, and a power inverter under the passenger’s side seat. The ps2 fits perfectly, and I can turn it on/off, and load the tray with ease. I will be install a car-puter hopefully soon, but the ps2 will have to tide me over until that time.

Well, here are some pics....

the finished pics are in the next post...

Really nice job. Where'd you learn to fiberglass? Only thing is... visibility might be a problem in 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

Yes, I will when i get home. I did not get done until late at night, so I figured i would take a few pics.

2k3TitaniumSe - yes, unfortunetly i did it all by myself... it was a long 3 days, let me tell you. my brother did help a little by cutting the first hole. but other then that...

dba1999us - ok, i will try to do my best to get a write up, but it will take a while... a couple of weeks or so.

Mkang513 - Actually, it is not fiberglassing. since the peice i was working on has a curve to it, it means that some points have a 1inch gap, and other points have a very small gap. for this reason, fiberglass would be had to use. so i used this very strong fiberglass puddy. it is kind of like bondo, but with fiberglass hair in it. they call it "horse hair puddy" then, once i had the shape down, i went in with some finishing putty to make it a smooth sandable suface, and shot it with some filling primer. and yes, whenever i am in those gears the shifter is in the way, but i an not in 1st for long, and i normaly cruise in 4th, or 6th. besides, i do not watch the tv much when driving.

THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS, KEEP EM COMMING!

THATS RIGHT, ALWAYS WORKING ON HER! lol. i have to stop now... my bank account is not liking all these mods. and yes, it is the mircovision. i had to take the lcd out of it's black plastic surrounding. and, i had to relocate the IR sensor so i could use the remote, so i cut the wires, made them longer, and wrapped the sensor circuit board in elec. tape nad hot glued it inside my pocket below my head unit. it hides very well, and you can barely see even if you are looking for it.

although, it is not letting me turn it off.... it just says "EXT ON" when i press the power button... annoying.

I'd love to see a how-to on this too. If you get some time for a write up, I'm sure you'll see a few people fabricating all kinds of stuff for their Maxs
