I think that you should go with the seperates in the rear, and about the amp it's your call if you need it.

Most people would say just do coaxials and I agree. If you do a components set then you need to find some place to mount the tweeter and with a coaxial you have the tweeter already take care of. In a car the is set up for SQ, the rear speakers are simply for fill. They just add depth to your soundstage. Some would argue that a coax is even too much, just use a simple speaker. I would have them play as a mid-bass/mid-range speaker. For the second amp question,

I guess I'm strugling to see how the setup is wired already. You have a 5.25, a 6.5 and a set of horns all up front. How is the amp that you currently have wired to the speakers? I would guess that you are running one set to the horns and the other to both the 5.25 and the 6.5. If this is true then you need something else to power the rear speakers. I would personally go with a nice two channel. Just my 2 cents. Good luck and post pics when you get it done. I'm interested to see how the horns look.

Go with some coaxials

Components in the rear are a total waste unless you are Shaquille O'neal or something and your ears are basically in the back of the car all the time.

Dustyroads made a good point about mounting the tweeter when you put components in the rear deck. A friend of mine had components in the rear of his 240sx and he had these ugly almost tower like things holding up the tweeter.

When you are cruising around really bumping your system, if you dont already know, Max rear decks rattle like crazy (atleast my 96 does) and if there were people sitting in your back seats with the sub kicking, they wouldnt really be able to appreciate the clarity of components due to the subs.

Save your money

Good Luck

How much do the horns get in the way on the driver's side, and do they often get kicked on the passenger side? I like the way the horns sound, but installation in a Maxima just reall isn't possible without a lot of problems. . .
