CD player question

So my cd player won't play cds at all now so I'm looking to somehow fix it. I've read that I can't just get an aftermarket headunit because of the way bose systems are setup in max's. Do I really need to replace the whole system just to play cds again?

Yes you can get a new head unit, but you need some type of line converter to match the bose speakers. Wait! Didnt we figure out you dont have the bose system? I remeber you rear speaker are not bose and there were no amps back there. Also your HU doesnt read BOSE on it. SO yea you just need to get a new HU, and you can keep the stock (non bose) speakers. I know a stereo man to talk to if ya need some advise.

For you ppl who want to fix the HU check these ppl out, they fixed a HU for me and it works perfect to this day. http://www.johnson-electronic.com/pages/1/index.htm

Yeah, since my HU doesn't have Bose on it or on the rear speakers, I'm wondering if the guy just replaced it with oem parts instead of bose. Is there a way to find out for sure? Because for right now I'd just like to replace the HU and worry about speakers, sub, later.

this seems to be a re-occuring issue with the Maxs

My HU isnt playing CD's also I get the "CD Errr"

I have seen the write up on how to fix the CD Err message (solder all the resistors) I would like to know if anyone has done this and restored their cd player back to life?

I took apart my bose, and was about to take off thd Cd player unit to check the resistors I got a little worried and didnt want to mess up my unit, so if someone has done this sucessfully then I will attempt, if not I'll see if a electronic shop can do it, just to solder all check all resistors shouldnt cost too much right?

thanks.
