Anyone knows the difference between sub boxes with glass and w/o???

Hey, guys.

I have just installed the aftermarket amp and sub. The sub consists of a box (with glass front) with two speakers. The question is: will the box be much louder, if I remove the glass front from the box? How does it affect the quality? In general, what's the difference between the open boxes and the ones with the glass front?

TIA,
Ilya

Your particular box was designed to use the fiberglass front. It is mostly just for looks though.

On my friends box, the glass makes a huge difference in sound. With glass on it sounds more accurate and clear, while without hte glass its loose and sounds nasty.

if there is any sort of port or any size hole in a sub box, then sound wont be as loud/powerful... with a box that has a port (that was built correctly/professionally), it wont be as loud but the sound quality will be better. completly eclosed boxes will produce the most "noise"
