Interesting question....
Interesting question....
I had an idea of putting a breaker switch somewhere in the positive lead coming from the battery and mounting it by the drivers seat and use it as an anti-theft device, but then i started thinking what are the drawbacks or negative side-effects might be.
1) Your ecu will reset everytime you do that
2) You will have to adjust your radio pre sets every time as well
Here's my question, what could happen if anything, when you reset ecu too many times.

Nothing good will come out of resetting your ECU often. But the main point I want to get at is, you cannot just put a "switch" on the Positive side of the battery, unless it has extremently big LEADS. You will burn the switch before you know it, if you were to remotely think of doing this, look into a relay/solenoid. Also ever think of looking into a high end alarm with ignition cut off?
I was thinking of something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WD1V
also, I was just talking to my friend and he said, that when he disconnected the positive terminal for a while and then connected it back, the radio and the clock didn't reset, could that mean anything?
and yes i was thinking of looking into a high end alarm with ignition cut off, however i cannot afford one so I have to look for alternative ways at solving the "problem"
by the way, thanks for the input!

Does your friend have a system in his car? If so he could have a seperate battery or sometimes if it is a big enough amp it stores power and when the battery is disconnected the rest of the cars low voltage could feed of, off the stored power, same if he has a CAP.
Anyway are you planning on putting a system? Either way I would get a higher rated breaker, if you do decide you want to do it. I personally would not go that route, remember computer electronics hate to be turned on and off.

No, he doesn't have a system and I would figure the same if he did or had another battery.
I am planning on putting a system in about a year or so. However you right about computer electronics hating being turned on and off.
I had another idea of maybe putting another battery and wiring it to the starter and switching it off while the stock powers everything it usualy would, and obviously charging the 2nd battery when the engine is running. Do you think this is possible?

Obviously anything is possible, however I think you are taking the extreme route here, but to answer your question if you do put a second battery you will need a isolator/solenoid this way the alternator will charge only one battery at a time and not both at the same time.
By the way what year max do you have?

How about this, make it simple if you are really looking to do something of this nature, add a switch to your fuel pump power line. When you exit the car you have a hidden switch that disables the fuel pump. What do you think about that?
Dude, that is the best idea!!!!!
Wow, i can't believe I never thought of that!!!
So much easier and so much more practical!
Thanks a lot!
If interested, I'll pm you about the progress
