sub stopped working, amp?, sub? wiring?

I was driving one day and noticed that my bass was gone. I had been pushing my sub harder than normal earlier on in the day. It is a crappy amp, powering a decent sub. I was thinkin that it was the amp was blown, but talking to somebody today he said it was easy to blow a sub with a bad amp. I would have thought that wiht a blown sub it would make noise, just crappy noise(coming from my knowledge of speakers, i know nothing about subs) but nothing comes out. I'm also thinking possibly wiring what all should I check to see if its that.

check your fuses, and replace them even if they look good or hit them w/ a digital multimeter

First check the fuses. Most probably, the one on the back of the amp went out. If not, check the fuse that is in line on the power cord that goes from the battery to the amp. If both of them are fine, the problem would probably be in the wiring because before the amp blows, the fuses should go out My sub stopped working today as well... It came out to be that the cable for the remote start went off (it's so tiny...) It's gonna be much easier, if you have the LEDs on the amp. If you have the power one, and it's off, then the problem is definetely in the amp. First check the ground. If the ground is fine, then you need to check the cable for the remote start. It's very easy to do by simply connecting your remote start to the battery cord (the same voltage, so don't worry) If the amp goes on, then the problem is in the remote cable. If it doesn't go on... then buy a new good amp.

By the way, sometimes the amp goes off for the protection, but a simple turning off and on of the HU takes care of this. Make sure that your bass booster is not set to toooo high value, otherwise the amp will go off right after you turn the system on.

On the other hand, if you find out that the amp works, then the problem is either in the wiring (that carries the sound to the sub itself) or the sub broke down. But as you have said, the sub would make some noice before that... I personally think that would be the amp or the remote start.

I don't know what I wrote, but hope it's gonna be helpful

thanks guys. Seeing as how I don't understand any of this, I'll check the fuses (now this I can do) and then have somebody who knows what there doing look at it.
