Need to build Cage for sub protection (think chain link style)
Need to build Cage for sub protection (think chain link style)
The way that I'm building my enclosure, my JL 8" sub is going to be completely visible to the inside cabin. Anyone or anything in the back seat will have access to it when the arm rest is flipped down. The sub will be pointing inside the cabin.
I'm interested in protecting this, and wanted some advice on how to do so. I was thinking of building some sort of metal mesh or series of bars to protect the woofer. I just know what a bad situation it would be to have some drunk friend "accidentally" damage that $400 sub.
Would such a device ruin the sound quality?

haha,
But seriously, I'll look into a sub grill. The only reason I don't want something so tight as a sub grill, I'm not sure how that affects the sound quality. Would be a shame to invest in a good sub, only to ruin it by placing a grill over it.
