My alarm won't set on my 1999 Maxima. The light stays solid red when the car is running and it doesn't blink when it should. The panic button will set off the alarm. Does anyone know how to reset the system? THANKS!

 

have you tried disconnecting the battery then reconnecting it? that sometimes works

 

I haven't tried that. I just bought the car used and it didn't have any remotes. I bought 2 used remotes and they programmed with no problem but that still didn't fix the system. I also bought an extended warranty and the security system is covered but it is a $100 deductible so I am trying to fix myself. I will try that. Has anyone else had this problem?

 

Tried the battery but no luck. There is only one fuse that is labeled anti theft and it is under the hood. Pulled it and replaced and that didn't work either. There is not a fuse in the dash panel that is labeled for the system and all of my other interior stuff is working with no problem. Any other ideas?

I read on another thread that the car could be in valet mode if the alarm LED stays solid and does not flash. That is exactly what mine is doing. Does anyone know how to get the system on a 1999 GLE out of valet? The car only came with one key, no remotes, and no owner's manuals or papers so I am trying to find everything online. I looked at the owner's manual on Nissan.com but no directions in there either. Any help would be great!
