Would an amp show a noticeable difference?

Hey guys, before I finally go out and spend my money on an amp, i just wanted to make sure its the right thing to do in my situation. I plan on keeping the stock head unit and also the stock speakers in m 00 Maxima. I have the non Bose system, and a friend of mine is selling a sony xplod 4 channel amp for $65 with all wires to me, so I thought id take him up on the offer. I am not looking for the most craziest system, but rather, i want clear sounding music. I was wondering if just adding an amp into the stock audio system would help acheive this.

Also, for the 2000 maxima non bose, what can i use for the remote power to the amp in the radio, so that the amp will turn on at the same time as the head unit? What wire do I splice into?

The OEM speakers won't sound all that much better and will most likely not last very long being amplified. If you want to improve the overall SQ, do the amp and upgrade the speakers as well.

Definately agreed on changing the speakers as well.

Dam, but the thing, all I want is clear sounding music, will I achieve that much with the addition of an amplifier alone? I just hate turning the volume up and getting distortion. And if I put the gains on the amplifier correctly, wont that prevent damage to the speakers?

Also, if I'm sitting in the car, playing music with the amp on, but not having the engine running, will it kill my battery much faster then if i had no amp?

It isnt gonna clear up anything all that much. Not extremely noticeable anyway. Sitting in your car with it on will take a toll on your battery faster, but unless for greatly extended periods of time, its nothing to worry about.

change the speakers, add an amp-if you can change the HU- dont worry about it.......just go out and listen to some diff speakers at dealers/ or chain stores and make a decision on what you like/budget

If I increased the gains incorrectly, i might blow the hell out of my speakers right? Also, what wire do I splice (there was a guide some place I cant find...) to have remote +12v for the amp?

stock speakers will not last off an amplifier
they are barely 15-30 watts peak to begin with- hard to find an amp that does less than 35-40rms per channel because aftermarket HU's do 19-25rms these days

I suggest if you are looking for better sound without replacing your speakers to buy a new HU- more power, higher signal to noise ratio and lower distortion
