Distortion at high volumes

When I turn the volume up to about half way, I get major distortion, especially when the bass hit. At times I get no music at all, just DISTORTION. any ideas on what it is?

Are you running an aftermarket amp? If you are I would check the gains on it or the check to see where the crossover is set.. You may be letting too low of frequencies go through these speakers..
