Steering wheel audio controls intermittant - pls help

My 5th gen steering wheel controls for the [crappy] stock bose system are starting to die.
They work sometimes - if I wiggle the steering, they can be made to work.
I suspect some wiper contact is weak or dirty.
Questions are:
- Is there something else I should consider as the problem?
- How hard is it to get to the contacts to clean them?
- Any advice?

Thanks,
FredA

This happened to me. Just take it apart and clean the contacts.
FYI, a new controler is over $80 new from Nissan.

That's what I figured I would have to do.
Any hints on how to take it apart.
I've not done that on a steering wheel with an airbag....don't want to mess that beast up.
What's the plan of attack???
Thanks,
FredA

Can anyone help with this?

Mine needs cleaning, has anyone done this before?

How do you take the controls out and disassemble them?

Thanks in advance!
