Hook Up an iPod?

I'm thinking of getting an iPod. I have the stock Bose system in my car and I was wondering what would be the best way to hook the iPod to it. I can get an FM broadcaster for the iPod so I can "tune" into the iPod over the FM radio. I already have one of those thingies that look like a cassette tape but has a wire to connect to an external audio device. I'm not a car audiophile by any means so something simple and not too costly is what I'm looking for.

Thanks.

hard wire it.. a guy made a write up on here a few weeks ago.. would look sharp, and would work much better/more reliable than an FM tuner.

When you say hard wire it do you mean plug it into where the CD changer would normally plug into? That way I would be able to select the input source with the standard Bose HUD.

I wish I could search on this forum...

There is no good way to hook up the iPod to the stock Bose stereo...give up.

Thanks for the links. So it sounds like if I want to do this right, I need to purchase the Soundgate. What I think I'm going to do for now is try thru the tape deck and see just how bad it is. If I can't live with it I'll see if I can get my hands on the Soundgate.

Thanks again.

Incorrect. Those of us that tried the Soudgate box are getting alternator whine b/c the Soundgate box isn't grounded. Well it is, but through the changer harness to the headunit, which is poor at best. I'm trying to isolate the gound wire in that 12-pin harness and re-ground it directly to the chassis.

Sorry I missed that. I'd be interested to know how it all turns out.
