yea so my xplod amp is toast. it was 200 rms at 4ohms. i was checking out this eclipse amp which is 400rms at 4 ohms but 200rms x 2 at 2 ohms. now this should be twice as greater than my current amp right? the sub i have is a singe kicker comp VR 12inch in a 1.0 cubic foot sealed box. i never dealt or heard an eclipse amp before. i seen alot of them but i dont know how well they perform. are they an spl or sq amp? [ it really doesnt matter im a bass guy]. and are they durable and dependable amps. if i dont get that ill get an alpine class d 200rms amp at 4ohms.[ those are the only mono amps i could afford from my audio store]. btw i tink the eclipse model number is 3320 but im not sure. and the store wants it for 250 is that good? thanks

Yeah, I would stay away from Sony car audio products, especially their X-plod line. I heard alot of bad things about them. They usually break down alot. As far as Alpine amps go, they are good and very reliable. In fact, I still have one that has been running for 10+ years. I am powering my 12" Kicker subs with it. Kicker amps are kick a**, too. I have one powering two sets of components. Their sub amps are incredible, also. I'm not sure about Eclipse amps, but I know they make great headunits.

i really like the way eclipse amps look. Alpine amps are fine though although if it was me i would go with eclipse (except they are so darned expensive new)

I know I'm not really giving you a fair review being my Eclipse is the 4-channel EA-3422, but I'm very pleased with the performance/SQ of this amp. It's running a JL Audio Component set XR-650 up front and pair of XR-650 coaxials in the rear. Very happy overall. More pics on page 10 of my site.

The amp that your considering is an older discontinued model. Although still a good one. I have run Eclipse amps flawlessly as many of my customers/friends have as well. You will definately get the power they claim and not have any regrets on their amps....
