Noise from tape deck on OEM HU.

Noise from tape deck on OEM HU.
Hello Group:
My stupid radio (OEM) keep making this busted sound. It keeps trying to eject the tape (but there is no tape inside). I tried to put one in and let it kick it out, but it keeps making the sound reguardless.
Any one has/had this problem? Any way to fix it with out unmounting the HU?
I was even thinking about jamming something in there, even if I don't use the tape (which I don't normally). Maybe resetting it? (by disconnecting the battery)
thanks for any info.

hahahah, yeah, what am I doing listening to tapes, hahah.
I have a 10 Disk, MP3 CD changer, that's why I wanted to jam the tape, I just don't want to hear that loud clanking noise it makes trying to eject a tape that it's not there. Maybe I'll stuff it with foam.
Maybe I'll just get at new HU since it cost about $200 to fix it (according to that site).
thanks for the site by the way.

Ive fixed it
I had the same problem in mine, in fact the real problem is that the loader gear is striped. Now what i've done since i don't listen tape anymore i've removed the tape deck section of my HU, the only backdraw of it is that when you start the car with the radio off, it show "tape error" on your HU and if you push the on/off button the message disapear for this ride
This is prety easy to do but i'm a electronic tech by profession so maybe i'm wrong on the "easy" part, and by the way since you are in there you may want to put some heatsink compund to the two transitor that are bolt on to the case so thay wont continue to overheat.
Hope this Help

Hey Dave:
Sorry to bring this post back, but you mentioned that you solved this problem by removing the Tape Deck section of the radio.
I installed some tuff an my car before so i had to take out the whole radio at some point to connect something on the back of it. When I pulled out the radio, I remember it being 1 piece (correct me if I am wrong).
Is the tape section completely separated from the Radio/CD chunk? Is there a way to cut some wire or dissable the tape without removing it? and Finally, do you have any write up and what take out, how to go about it, anything that may need to be re-connected, etc? Thanks, and sorry for all the questions.
