Question on Relays

Hello,

I have a question on relays.

Is there a relay that is by default "closed circuit" and when voltage is applied, it opens the circuit (reverse of normal switches)?

I know some of you might flame me, but I am trying to install an aftermarket sonar reverse sensor on my '92 maxima and '01 Pathfinder.

Only thing I would like to do is, to be able to disable the reverse sensor (for when my baby is sleeping in the car and I know that I don't need the "beep" "beep).

It would be easy as putting in a dash switch to kill it, but.

I am afraid that myself or my wife might turn it off and forget to turn it back on (which defeats the purpose of having one).

So I was wondering. What if I get one of them illuminated switches that illuminate in the "on" position? I found a red illuminating swtich that looks identical to my green switch from Hella driving lamps. But only problem is, I would like it to glow red when the back up is DISABLED, not when it is engaged.

I thought perhaps a use of a relay?

So my question is:

Is there a relay that is by default "closed circuit" and when voltage is applied, it opens the circuit (reverse of normal switches)?

I was thinking of installing the switch so that when I flick it up, it will glow red as it gives power to the relay which will "cut" the backup sensor power wire.

The glowing red light will remind me that the backup sensor is OFF.

I went to radioshack and the manager looked at me funny and asked what relays are...

Thank you for any helps,

-Sage
