Are Alpine amps any good?...AND a sub wiring question
I'm looking at a class D Alpine amp, i believe it is the MRD-M501. It claims 550Wx1 RMS at 2ohms. It looks to me like its meant for 4 ohms but its says 2 ohm stable. But I saw one review and it was a very good one, does anybody else know anything about them?
The sub wiring question I have is that my sub (12" RE SE series) says it is a dual 4 ohm. I believe I can wire this for 2 ohms....am I correct? Also, at 4 ohms, it is rated at 600W rms....if I wire it for 2 ohms, would it yield more power, or would it still be the same?
Thanks a lot, I am pretty new to this stuff, but I wanna learn and make sure I get the right (and best quality) equipment. Thanks.

ok, well heres a link to the crutchfield page for the amp....
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-IsfAwfC...o&i=500MRDM501
all the way at the bottom, it measures the RMS wattages at both 14.4v and 12v. How do I know which voltage I'll be putting to it, and if its possible, how can I change the voltage?

i just bought my self an alpine amp today. mrd mp 350 its 350@2ohms.its a class d mono amp, and hell yea alpine is good, but sometimes may get a little over pricy.
hey im looking for a Re Se!!. yes a dual 4ohm can run at 2ohms or 8ohms. and the lower the ohms the more power the amp will push out to the sub. so if you get that amp you will push 550rms to the SE at 2ohms. thats good enough. well imo. unless you want to port out the box.
