CD Player Problem

I have an old pioneer head unit. It has CD/Tape/Radio. Ever since I got the car, the CD player never worked. When I insert a CD, it takes the disc in.. Once in, right away it says "Error" on the interface, then the whole system shuts off, and slides the disc right back out to me. I looked it up in the troubleshooting section of the manual and it says "Hardware not connected". I use to have a 12 CD changer that broke if that makes any difference on why it's not working, but even when I had the changer, the CD player in the head unit had the same problem. I would just like to know if it's possible to bring the CD player back to life since I will be havin this system for awhile. Thank you.

Sounds like it needs professional repair, but if it's not under warranty, it'll probably be cheaper to just buy a new HU.

Yeah, probably. But it's a very good HU, even for being almost 10 years old. It has so many features, compared to what they have out now. Must have been very expensive when it was brand new. Hopefully somebody else can lend a helping hand. Thanks anyway.

But it doesn't play the non-burned disc's either. Anyway, Im just a little broke so I gotta stick with what I got, and try to make the best of it. Even if it's an old pioneer HU. Thanks anyway.
