Solo Bariq L7 question

I have had a Solo Bariq 12" L7 sitting in my room for awhile, and was wondering....
1. How good is this sub?
2. What would be the best amp for it with out going over $300.
3. Would it sound bad if I kept my stock bose system?
4.
Whats the recommeded box size (ported)?
Sorry if this is a newbie question but I barely know anything on audio. Thanks for any help.

i had one 12" l7, hit hard as hell and sounded clear. And it should sound the same onyour bose as it would on a headunit.

What kind of amp did you have? And was your box ported?

joebangaa 01-20-2005 09:15 PM

hm is it the 04? or older...

sorry maxspeed, these aren't the clearest but i do admit they can sound good and YES they get loud as f*ck.

for my 10" L5's i went with the kicker recommendations....1.75 cu ft but i lowered the tuning to 34hz. kicker says for a similar sounding setup like mine to do 2.5cu ft for a 12"...i personally think you can do anything from 1.75~2.5, 2.5 is on the big end but it'll get you the nice deep sound that a 1.75 probably couldnt regardless of tuning. and you're confused by the jargon, i'm telling you to port it lol

go on kickers site there are specs there and im pretty sure there is like almost a step by step

joebangaa 01-21-2005 10:16 AM

^^ no step by step but they give you box plans...thats pretty much a step by step. i prefer an L port though, their setup doesnt give you the most efficient use of trunk space..

Whats the best amp to power this without going over $300?

Sentinal 01-21-2005 03:35 PM

I really need advice on getting a good amp for my sub that wont cost more than $300, I want to install it soon. Any advice? Thanks

kicker kx600.1 (puts out ~720-750rms) basically made for that sub

joebangaa 01-21-2005 05:00 PM

270 is a lot of money for one sub imo but it's a good amp fasho

2 Da Max 01-21-2005 06:23 PM

the l7 is a nice sub, it hits real nice.

Not for one sub that can hit like 2 :D

joebangaa 01-21-2005 07:36 PM

true dat, 270 isnt THAT much but kicker amps are pricey

Kikcaffine 01-21-2005 07:53 PM

yea, you could maybe go w/ a hifonics or a planet audio. I believe they are pretty cheap.

joebangaa 01-22-2005 08:30 AM

Cant_Get_Ryte 01-22-2005 09:35 AM

i have a fosgate bd 1000 i can let go for 200 if your interested also a mmats d100hc but that would be more ;)

joebangaa 01-22-2005 09:53 AM

that's 1kw rms @ 2ohm right? that'd be perfect for a 15 L7 imo...or 2 10" L5's...a bit much for a 12 L5 or L7

Sentinal 01-22-2005 11:14 PM

OK i just finished purchasing the KX600.1 for $259 shipped. I should have it installed by next weekend I will post pics and my "review" when its done. Thanks for the help.
P.S: Should I get a capacitor?

slickrick 01-22-2005 11:59 PM

joebangaa 01-23-2005 08:02 AM

^^ you do, lol, ebay negro!

rick don't stop him from getting a cap lol. i have a 1 farad for sale

rkyat 01-23-2005 05:58 PM

i had 10" L7, it pounded hard. Just search ebay and you'll find an Amp for a good price to push it. I bought a Rockford Fosgate X5 amp for only $140. and my L7 used to pound the hell out of my old 240.
