my bose h.u. is going bad. Would this make them tacky speakers sound a little better? (of course in time i will change those too but the h.u. HAS TO GO!)
The bass sounds so horrible (more like, where's the bass??!) could it be because the speakers r on the door? Would it be better to move the ones from the back door to the top (next the sub?) Man i miss my bose in my 97! lol

so does it look good? will it do the job and then some when i replace the speakers? Will i ever be able to use my steering wheel controls afterwards? Thanks

Are you sure your speakers arent blown? I blew one of mine and it was torn into shreads... literally.

Remember the Bose headunit puts out almost no voltage, amps are located on each of the Blose speakers. I believe its possible to use an aftermarket headunit but you need some type of voltage adaptor... not sure.

Either way its cheaper and a whole lot better to just get aftermarket speakers with the new headunit. It will sound ALOT better.

What steering wheel controls are you talking about? We dont have any steering wheel controls for our audio if thats what you mean.

Sorry about that i should've been specific. I have a 97 and an 02. My 97 is fine, but the 02 (that has the steering wheel controls) sux. The speakers work, the quality is no where close to the 4th gens tho.

Kenwood has always been a brand liked by some hated by some.

Your 02 will have 1 amp on the rear deck that powers everything. You can either get a new deck with the $50 adapter to make an aftermarket head unit work with Bose amps. Or you can get a head unit and 4 speakers.

+1 You should just put your money towards new speakers. If its about money, DIY would not be hard at all, there are plenty of good how-to's, and it would be easy to do a radio and 4 speakers. The bose amp will have 8 inputs and 8 outputs, for the 4 speakers, so all you need to do is match up which is which once you have the deck/doors pulled out.

Either way, the less Bose you have involved in your system the better it will sound

Lastly, look up the PAC SWI-X. This is a steering wheel control interface. It has an infrared eye you mount somewhere aimed at the radio, and when you push the steering wheel button it emits the same frequency as if you were using the radio's remote control. Hope this helps

thnx! well the installation part i got covered (my buddy does things like that all the time) Speakers will be a thing to do when it's a little warmer (then of course amp, sub afterwards) I know that h.u.'s sometimes make all the difference. I'm prolly investing in the adapter incase the new speaker plans r delayed. Definitely don't wanna h.u. that is gonna suk. Thnx for the input!

OH.. WHERE CAN I FIND THAT THING U WERE TALKIN ABOUT? PAC SWI-X.

A local custom shop should have it, if not, ebay or other online retailers. Just type PAC SWI-X into google and youll get a ton of sites.
