box for mtx thunder 8000's
box for mtx thunder 8000's
i recently got a pair of 10" thunder 8000's 4ohm dvc, i was planning on putting them in the 10" bandpass box that i had my old kenwood's in but they wouldn't fit because they're beefy subs. so now it defeats the purpose of getting 10's because i didn't want to have to buy a new box and if i did iw as going to get 12's. well now i have 2 10's and i bought a box its a q-logic http://sm.crutchfield.com/S-waTS5Rg1...0&I=044H1010DE and im not too happy witht he sound im getting out of them .. with a hifonics zx6000 amp i thaught they would get a bit louder.. so im thinking its in the box.. does anyone have any suggestions im thinkin im gunna build my own but im not sure how big to go and ported or sealed
Since you had bandpass before Id say go ported. Youll get a deeper and louder sound, more similar to bandpass. Do you have the q-logic box ported or sealed? I assume ported because it probably doesnt meet mtx ported specs. That is a pretty nice sub, a pair of em should hit pretty well.
Also, do you have it wired at 2 ohms per channel or bridged at 4 ohms? You might want to beef up your amp a little bit too, those subs can handle 400 RMS 800 peak, so that amp is a little underpowered for em.

ported but u can seal the box.. don't know how well that would work.. im running it bridged 4ohm and i just bought the amp i was going to go more powerful but this was like the border of my price range.. i got the amp for $180
ported and bandpass isn't similar at all. most bandpass boxes have a very small frequency range, generally near the tuning frequency of the ports. question is, what kind of bass do you like?
