Clifford IntelliGuard 750 or Clifford Matrix 3.5 for 6th Gen?

I need some advice in deciding which of the two alarms should I actually get: Clifford IntelliGuard 750 or Clifford Matrix 3.5 for my 6th gen Maxima? Both are made by the same company, but one of the installers recommended IntelliGuard 750 because "matrix is really a Viper and that's inferior technology".

Anyway, I am not as much concerned of anybody stealing my car, as I am concerned of anybody vandalizing my car. Matrix remote transporder technology in conjunction with shock and proximity sensors seem to be good combination, but the installation guy says that I would be much better off, if I go with IntelliGuard with shock and proximity sensors. Is he right?

Proximity sensors suck b/c if someone walks by or the wind blows a leave by your car it will set the alarm off. Personally, anything made by DEI is a good, and I would only want the shock sensor.

Your dealer didnt offer you the G5 5.5X? Is he even aware of it being introduced? I suggest you ask him about that once its finally introduced.

Silver sleeper...Out of the dozens that Ive done on Maximas alone Ive yet to have this problem. If set properly you wouldnt either.

Yeah, he mentioned the 5.5X but told me it's not available yet, and couldn't give me any specific date. Do you have any more detailed info on availability of this thing?

Hi Pearl96Max - I gotta quick question: which installer would do better job based on what they told me (see below)?

One guy says he can install Matrix 2.5 (I don't need the remote start) but he cannot guarantee that my HID's (which is my primary concern) will be really protected because he doesn't want to make the sensor too sensitive so that even the rain can set it off and so on. So according to him, the shock sensor will not pick up that kind of shocks when somebody will try to remove the HIDs unless they will hit the body hard, because it is installed around the dashboard. So he basically was saying: "yeah, get the alarm, but don't expect too much"

Other guy says "sure, we can install Matrix and the proximity sensor like we did for other Maximas, no problem" and according to him that's kind of protection I should get, but then the first guy says it's bull$!t, b/c of you cannot install the the proximity sensor outside (e.g. in engine compartment) the driver's cabin as it will malfunction pretty quickly due to heat and other conditions. And if you install it around the dashboard it won't really cover the bumper area...

To be honest, I started to think "screw the motion detector", but when I heard the story from the first guy about the sensitivity of shock sensor and so on, I started to wonder if the alarm would do anything then...

i have the viper 690xv with proximity sensors - the alarm can be made as sensitive as you want, and after a while it learns its surrounding and doesn't pull as many false warnings

I actually had Don put a clifford Matrix3.5 in my 2k1 Pathfinder as well- great alarm

In all honesty I think both guys are looking to make a sale, but with minimal complaints from you in the end. They are both (Especially the second guy that has done Maximas) not exactly up to date with the products. Ive installed dozens of sets of shock sensors under the hood attached directly to the headlights without fail. Some of these have been done since the 2k2 Maxima debuted. Prior to that I was doing them in Acura CL/TL. So with alot of them being used for many years, its obvious its not a problem.

As for the proximity sensor (508D) the first few days it may have a few false alarms, being that it has just been installed and doesnt know the exact proximity of the vehicle. After a few days a couple of adjustments it is pretty much error proof. Some of my customers have even gone the stretch to do both the proximity as well as a shock sensor on each headlight, still no problems...

Don, don't you know somebody in Miami/Ft.Lauderdale area that would be capable of doing this type of installation (shock sensors on HIDs + Clifford 2.5)on a maxima 2004?

I talked to the guy I intended to use for the installation (the first one) and I basically told him what he sould do, but it turned out he had no clue about that kind of setup not to mention any previous experience. So you were right, he's waaaay behind - he doesn't know how to do it, what type of sensors to use, where they should be attached etc. And even if for some reason he manages to do that kind of setup, he doesn't want to give me any warranty on the sensors no HIDs. So there's no point in talking to him anymore.

Anyway, maybe you know any installer in my area that could do it?

Although no one that I know personally, I can check the DEI forums and a few others to see what/who is available and competent of the task.

The shock sensors are just simple 504Ds. Wired in through the multiplex input to still utilize both warn away and full alert.

If you are willing to go to Orlando, studman (Jeremy) would be a good choice for this install. Not sure if he has ever done shock sensors on the HID's, but he has also done a ton of alarms for people in central florida. He did his own complete alarm write up which a ton of DIY'ers on here now use. His site is maxima.theowensfamily.com. Shoot him a pm if you are interested, if Don has no good suggestions in your area. My roommate is from Coral Springs, and he said you might want to check out Car Tunes in Ft Lauderdale Beach. I just googled it and found it if you want to check it out
