Just curious of the fellow 3rd gen's out there with aftermarket satellite radio:

Where did you mount your "brain" box?

Right now I am thinking under the front seat, but curious what everybody else has come up with.

Thanks!

trunk, and run the antenna in the back window, at the back of the rear deck where it meets the back window

Cool, thanks.

Not sure if my cable will stretch from the headunit to the trunk... I might have to either get a longer sat-HU cable, or settle for under the drivers seat.

So you put your antenna inside of the car? I guess that would be the easiest, and cleanest looking. I am not too thrilled with something magnetically stuck to my car... just seems like it could fly off at high speeds, or get stolen, etc. (not to mention it looks kinda ugly)

BTW, if I see a maxima with bright headlights on 85, I'll assume its you and wave! I'm just up the road in the Jefferson/Pendergrass area.

I have my XM brain sitting in my spare tire hole. It is just sitting in there between the spare and the side of the hole and I have never had any problems with it. People have mounted their antennas on their rear decks or on the dash with no problems. Try it out and if the signal isn't good enough for you then move it to the roof.

if you have a kenwood headunit, and it comes with that blue cable, it is very very long, and will reach no problem

I got the Alpine Sirius unit, its pretty short. I would guess 7-10 feet. Not much.

Maybe I just need an longer aftermarket cable?

I just mounted my SIR-ALP1 (Sirius brain box) under the drivers side dash. It's up above where a clutch pedal would be. Zip-tied it.

Easy run for the data and power cable. Now I just need to get that antenna installed somehow.
