stupid question but plz help

Ok, i know this is probobly a stupid question but none the less...i can't figure it out. I have a 2k and i can't figure out how to get my stereo to sit farther back into the dash to look more flush.

every other picture of a dash i see the vents are not connected to the piece that is located around my cd player and the lower din and there cd player is set back a little farther so it is much more flush with the entire dash. did i miss something? i have a diff cd player now but it sits just the same. any help would be nice.

you need to get an aftermarket kit - for your hu - try metra - the cuts in that stock frame are more narrow than any aftermarket hu- you'll be much more pleased with the flush look after you get an aftermarket kit such as metra. good luck

but the problem is my air vents are connected to the piece that goes around the center. I wouldn't be able to install a kit unless my air vents were not connected to the rest of it

I just put an Alpine head unit in my 2k last night, used the install kit from Metra and it looks good. go to audiooutfitter.com and search for item #99-7416. looks good and fits tight. lata

is anyone else not seeing my questions/concern about the vents. The vents above my cd player are connected to the trim around it. But in pics and for these kits the trim underneathe the vents is detached somehow. I do not understand how this works considering the vents and the trim are 1 piece. anyone clear this up for me?

^^^^ you guys LoL he HAS the GXE !

Merovi, if you want the aftermarket kit my suggestion would be to sell your OEM one and whoever purchases it ask for their vent piece. Otherwise you can simply mount it to the factory brackets inside the dash, not using the sleeve that comes with the radio. Just screw it in similiar to how your stock one was. Although your trim piece wont fit and may have a small gap around the radio.

i haven't bought any kit though. I just screwed it into the factory setup. I just can't figure out how that goes in and the vents go in when theres the whole trim that goes where the kit will be replacing it. does the kit go over the trim? do the vents break off? still missing something. sorry for the confusion.

A dealer, eBay, or on here.

Incidentally, I have the vents, but there's a hole in the center where the alarm led used to be. Interested?
