Volume fades in & out
Volume fades in & out
I couldn't seem to find any previous threads where someone had this problem, so here goes...
I had a basic Pioneer HU w/ 4 Pioneer 4-way speakers, an alpine amp, and 2 sony 12" subs. Obviously, not the best setup, but that's beside the point...
About 2 weeks ago I purchased a Pioneer DEH7700 to replace the other HU. While installing it, I decided to hardwire my radar detector as well. I do so by splicing it into the 12v line to the cigarette lighter from behind the trim panel.
Ever since I installed the new HU, my entire system volume drops about 33-50& whenever I brake for more than a spli-second. Once I accelerate, the volume gradually returns to normal within a few seconds.
The reason I mentioned the radar wiring, is because I was told by someone on another board that it could have to do with the alternater, and the wiring for the radar may be causing it. It doesn't seem to me like that would be a problem, but I dunno. Is there anything anyone can think of that may cause this problem? It's quite annoying especially while doing city driving, as the brakes are constantly being used.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

i'm not sure but i do know that when my alternator went..it just randomly decided to go. i had no clues or anything. i parked my car and was listening for about 30 secs with the car off...then the whole car just dies.
but good luck.
but good luck.
now why would you do that? you know you have a bad altenator. this is what you do, buy 10 capacitors like i did charge them up and use them as spare batteries, trust me its cool when they spark, like a nice blue orange glow. neways how many miles does the car have?

Also, it's now doing it regardless of whether I'm braking or not. The volume just keeps fading in and out every 15-30 seconds. Sometimes it stays low for almost a minute.
I'm not getting any strange noises from the alternator, so I don't want to spend the dough to replace that if it's not necessary. Could it possibly be the ground? All I know at this time, is that the ground wire from the H/U is connected to the existing ground wire from the old harness. I'm not sure of where that's grounded to since I'm at work, and won't have time to check it out for a few days.
Anyone
