laptop screens?

Has anyone used laptop screens in their car? Old laptops are cheap and the screens are big, has anyone tried removing them from the computer and using them in their car.

i dont think that will work. unless you can do something with the laptop connection wire. it normally plugs into a onboard graphics card. i dunno how you would convert that cable into a RCA or s video input.

ive thought about this a lot, there is a way to convert VGA or whatever the monitor wants to composite/S video. i just dont know how good its gonna look. but it would be interesting to see those mounted in fiberglass or something, they would be LARGE screens...

i got a nice 12 inch screen form a ultra portable notebook. i dont thing the conversion is going to be easy from wxga monitor to a S vid. i searched for a long time a while back and found nothing. i figured that many guys have thought about this before and if it was possible it can easily be googled. Maybe i should just install the whole damn laptop into the dash. its a dell 700m its pretty small. i could put the computer under the seat and run the wires longer from the graphics card.

well ull have to find a convertor for the lcd which is about 100 bucks on ebay. Just go to earthlcd.com, they have some lcds that will work with s video. Also the video clarity will not be clear as pure vga. You could mount your laptop somehwere in urcar and rewire wires from graphics card in your laptop to the lcd. That way the video will still be clear and dont have to spend more money.
