Speaker Upgrade enough?

Hi guys,

My 2k Max came with the 120 watt Infinity 6 speaker single cd setup. It's not that great, but works ok...but lately I've been thinkin that if I replace the factory junk speakers with aftermarket ones that fit in each respective mounting hole, it will at least sound alot better. I would like to avoid replacing the head unit if possible.

Do you think its worth doing this? I thought I have read that people have done this and thought it well worth the money. I get the feeling that just replacing the speakers will make a huge difference. Then after that maybe add a basslink or something. I'm not really looking for huge pounding bass...just more than there is now, which aint much.

Any thoughts ? Any ideas on prices to just do the 6 speakers? I was thinking about maybe checking with Circuit City, they must have compatible setups there.

i mean if you change the speakers it wont really sound the same unless you get a proper hu. the hu is basically the brain of the system. trust me when i sent my alpine hu in for repairs i had to use my garbage bose hu and it sounded like shiet. i didnt bother playing music the whole week

i've been running upgraded speakers and hu for a while, and it sounds so much better than bose, with a lot more bass. nothing that beats your heart for you, but it sounds awesome.

Thats what I figured would happen my99maxisnice...Seems the quality of the speakers do not do the head unit justice. I think all 6 will need replacement. Did you do them yourself or get it done? reason I ask is that I was wondering if any of the 6 were "easy" to replace by myself...trying to save some bucks on what might be a bit of a pricey job.

Either way, its gonna get taken care of.
