IS there really THAT much difference between some $1300 Focals and some $700 MB Quarts? In my opinion ...no.

They look very pretty. But I don't give a damn what my speakers look like. I don't plan to stare at them as I drive down the road. I just want them to rock, rythm, roll and hang on for a while with a couple hundred honest watts running through them. Show me how they sound when they are hooked up with 50 watt min to tweet/65watt min to mid(planning to upgrade that figure soon).

For the last 3 years, I've run my Focal 165KS seperates on 200wRMS to each mid and 50w RMS to each tweeter. I had to send my mids back because the glue came off the surrounds, but they said that happened on a small production run- bad glue. the new mids I have now are off the 165K2 system, and they sound just as good. absolutely gorgeous playing some Stevie Ray Vaughn at 115dB.

For anyone who doesn't know, Focals are amongst top 5 car audio speakers in the world IMO

In no praticular order:
1) Rainbow
2) Focal
3) Dynaudio
4) Morel
5) A/D/s

there are others, but not on the same level as these...

don't get me wrong..i'm a previous hex owner myself and they are excellent speakers. But their quality control sucks ( had my mids replaced twice) and theyve never been the same ever since eton stopped making them

Yah, but the home drivers can still be gotten. Most are 8 ohms but since I am running dual drivers on most amp channels that brings it back down to 4 ohms. And I think the 8.6 can still be bought new. I have 2 now as the rear channel. I am investigating how to get a few more. And the price is good even for plain jane speakers - but the original HEX was nothing but plain. Check Madisound. I may replace my tweets for the ER4 soon if I can save up some money.
