where does the wire go???
where does the wire go???
i bough some fog lights and dont know where some red wire is suppose to go is says to parking lamp but where exacly??? any diagrams and how do i get a wire tru fire wall?? do i have to drill???
sorry about the grammar but i was in a rush. the first question was that one of the wire is suppose to go to "parking lamp". my question is which one? and which color wire to splice to? the wire is a red power wire but the foglights already have another wire that goes to the battery this one i think is for the led on/off controller..
Check the Alarm Wiring Info sticky for finding your parking lights wire. But do not draw current from this wire, this should only function as to tell the foglights when to turn on and off, it should draw current from the battery.
There HAS to be a relay in there somewhere, or you're going to blow the circuit or keep blowing fuses. The correct way of installing aftermarket fogs is to have a 4 pin (30 AMP) relay and wire up the wires by the following. The wires coming from BOTH fogs go to terminal #87 of the relay. A wire going DIRECTLY to the positive battery terminal (with an in-line fuse of about 15 amp) goes to terminal #30 of the relay. Terminal #86 of the relay is used for the switch for turning on/off the fogs. If it's a three pin switch, then it must have a little lamp on it which turns on when the fogs are on. If it's a two pin, it doesn't have a little lamp on it. The extra pin is just for ground. Either way, one wire goes to terminal #86 and the other end goes to the switch marked ACC. Another wire coming out of the switch (Battery) goes the LIGHTING CIRCUIT, the parking lights or headlight outputs, whichever you prefer of how you want the fogs to operate when on. Make sure you install an in-line fuse as well in this wire (about 2 Amps) Finally, if there is a third pin on the switch, just wire it to ground. Same goes for terminal #85 of the relay. And there you go, this process should work. I do alot of electrical work in the car and this is one of the safest ways from any problems of blowing circuits/fuses. I hope this helps you out.
