As I understand our Max 2001 has TELEPHONE PRE WIRE. Anyone figure out how to connect cell phone and how it works.

 

usually its just a harness with acc., 12+, ground and maybe a radio mute. in a 4th gen its under the ceter console near the shifter.

the average hands free car kit has ground, 12+, acc, and radio mute but they dont need to connect to a special harness. If you can find it one will still work in your car.
