LOUD function on Pioneer decks------ H E L P ! ! !

so i just got my system installed (pics coming soon) it looks real good and sounds even better. anyway i took it to a place in salt lake called Lake Town. they hooked me up, but i think i got over charged for what they did. and they said that the static/ hissing/ popping sound coming from my tweeter was from the LOUD function on my pioneer deck. they said its over powering it and its going to find the path of least resistance, whatever that means. so am i gettin fed a bunch of crap, or is this the reason.

Also, like i said, i think i got over charged. i paid $250 to get my deck installed with the space-saver and ant thing and the harness, and to get my components and coaxes installed and the "stock pre-amp bypass". which ended up being about a 7" length of wire.

so in the end it sounds really well and i plan on getting some pre-amp for the interior, but im not sure if i got ripped or not.

space-saver= double DIN replacement pocket
antena adapter
and wiring harness

the thing is when i took it in, i couldnt reproduce the problem, so they think they fixed it by turning the LOUD off.

i had some other **** too. i have some screws missing and i had to go back for all my stock speakers. also when i took the door panel off, my speaker cone had a ****** dent. like a screw driver was jabbed into it. WTF am i supossed to do on that. what are they gonna do? say sorry? fukk i am pissed. but it sounds really nice, but im still pissed.

so the LOUD has nothing to do with the hissin/ poppin/ crackling/ static sound? cuz it hasnt done it since. i talked to my friend and he says they're feedin **** in my @ss. so here's the thing i turned the volumn to 0 (zero) adn i could still hear the sound. but not since i took it in. wtf should i do?

sounds that way to me. take it back, then take it back again, and again. its your word against theirs for the dent in the cone, which sucks. But sounds like a shady @ss shop to begin with, so why would you go there? if you dont know what your doing, dont know the people there or know theyre good, bring it to sound advice, circuit city, etc, for basic stuff, theyre WAY more liable than a custom shop, plus you never know if that shady shop will even be around tomorrow. If we scratch a panel at circuit city and the customer wants it replaced, its done. thats all there is to it.

So yes, no offense but you got bent over, not necessarily on what you paid for install because we wouldve charged $233 for that install at my Circuit City at least, but in terms of getting what you paid for. Good salesman make you feel like your getting hooked up while they rip you off. Bring it there and reproduce the problem. again and again. and b!tch at em like theres no tomorrow if your not satisfied. If it were me I would have gone back the very next day and returned it all and demanded my money back.

This is why I do all my installs myself. I don't trust anyone else doing it, heard too many horror stories from shops. Yes, I realize there are a few good ones that really care about their customers, but I've found them few and far between. A buddy of mine was telling me the other day he had to redo his daughters boyfriends system, said the place that hooked the system up used the speaker as the remote to turn the amp on..........LOL, I died laughing, but it is really sad when you really think about it. Anyway, I'd take it back and tell them its not the "loud" button creating the noise, unless of course the deck is screwed up. Good luck and let us know how it comes out.

The loudness brings out sounds when you're playing at low volumes I have noticed some distortion when I use it but if your volume is at 0 and you hear something thats bad. Sounds like you got ripped headunit installs usually cost under $50 installing components shouldn't cost you 200 at all. Check your grounds maybe they screwed up wiring.

ok i figured out the sound from my tweeter. my friend that i had help me hook up my subs isnt as knowlegable as i thought. he had the gain on my amp turned all the way up and he had the freq on like 250, so it was pushing so much that it was tellin the deck to push more everywhere else. im not really a sound guy, but thats what i got out of my explaination. my other friend who seems to really know his **** helped me. a lot.
any way the shop has been around for a long time and they carry quality stuff and i have had some good deals come my way through them, so i thought i could trust them with an install. seeing what they did, i definitely could have done it myself, but thats how you learn i guess. and as far as the space-saver bein a west coast deal. i dont know. all i know is that a dual DIN bose face is twice as big as the pioneer i put in, so you gotta do something to take up the other space. so whatever. im gettin everything worked out, but it's taking longer than i wanted. thanks for all the help though. i'll probably still go b!tch to Lake Town. i was just lookin at the bill, and they charged me 20$ to take the ****** back seat out, cuz it wasnt a "normal" install. it takes like 2 min tops to get the back seat out. whatever.

so thanks for all the help boys. and i swear i'll have pics soon

You got owned! I can't believe you paid $250 for a head unit/speaker install. It's really not that hard. You could of bought a better head unit and installed it by yourself instead of wasting that money. I'm glad you got it fixed though.
