New HU with Scoshe Adapter Problems
New HU with Scoshe Adapter Problems
I got my new deck installed with the scoshe adapter from crutchfield I was told to get. The power to the deck works fine, it turns on when I press the power button, etc. Although, I am getting no power to the speakers. I fiddled around with the controls, and went from 0-Max on the scoshe with about 2/3 volume, no hiss or anything at all.
Ive checked all my connections I had to make, they seem to be fine. Where should I be looking? Do speaker circuits have a fuse I should be looking for?
Its a 95 Maxima that had bose

Ok...ill bite since its 4:15 am and im bored
Have you tested the output from the head unit with a normal non-bose speaker to make sure the head unit has output and isnt defective? If so, and it works fine, I would try taking about 6 inches of speaker wire, and hook the head unit to one of the bose speakers bypassing the scosche adapter, to make sure that the adapter isnt the problem. You dont need to turn it up loud, you just want to make sure the speaker works and it isnt a defective scosche adapter.
Thats all ive got for now. Worst case scenario, put the Bose head unit back in, because the easiest way to troubleshoot is to go back to the last time it worked, and add things on one by one. But im guessing if you do what i posted above youll find that something is defective, because assuming you hooked it up correctly, theres no other good solution.

i think I have a short circuit somewhere inside the unit. The scoshe adapter and the HU and all my aftermarket wires are fine.
When i plug in my old bose, there is no power, AND the Alarm light blinks frantically, suggesting to me that there is a short somewhere and is really screwing up my electrics.
When I use the new head unit, I get power, but no sound or hiss from the speakers.
What can I do!?

Did you screw in the Bose unit to test it, because it needs to be grounded. There isnt a ground in the factory harness, so this is why it probably didnt turn on. That alarm light is weird though.
Do what I said above...like plug in the aftermarket bypassing the scosche adapter, etc.

I bypassed the scoshe and that wasnt the problem. I didnt screw in the bose so thats why it wasnt grounded.
Quoting from a post on the 4th gen website is my stupid error i think.
"MAKE SURE that all wires are connected-if you're using the BOSE speakers, remember that they EACH have an AMP so the REMOTE AMP power wire MUST be connected-I had the same thing happen to me when I installed my HU.."
So i am going to go try that right now, im pretty sold on that being the problem because i did not plug in the amp turn on wire.
