those subs appear to be dual 4ohm subs, so you would want somewhere between 600 and 800watts @1 ohm or @4ohm.

Something like a hifonics nemesis amp does 750x1@1 and could be found quite cheap

ah my fault, thought it was the 10.1, which only comes in 4 ohms svc. the 10.1d comes in dvc.

nothing will provide the bass impact as well as a subwoofer.

subwoofers are uncessary, they drown out the clairty of the music--vocals, instruments, etc. Plus, since people put them in the trunk, that makes it even worse. You want all the drivers--all the music--in front of you, nothing behind. The only instance in which a sub is justified is if you're putting together a home audio system and you already have the other three frequencies covered---tweeters, mid-ranges, mid-bases. Then and only then, can you add on a sub, provided of course you place it along with the other audio equipment IN FRONT. But if you have a subwoofer without a midbass first, you're not making up for the frequency gap.

i understand your argument. but a nicely tuned system won't have the vocals, etc overpowered by bass. it really depends on how the system is setup. bass is also non-directional. even with my brahma in my trunk, the bass fills the entire cabin of the car, and it doesn't sound like it's originating from the rear of the car. a subwoofer will reinforce low end reproduction, that a smaller drive simply cannot reproduce as well.

low end frequencies are dominated by cone area and xmax... no 6.5" speaker will play like a 15" speaker for 20-50hz. now a 6.5" with 14mm xmax is a nice thing to have in the doors.
