Best Bass Option

I have a really weird bandpass box. Speakers face the trunk but 4 ports face up. The best bass comes when I open the trunk, and by dropping the seats I hear little if any improvements. Whats a better option, port the space where I don't have a bose sub in the rear deck or face the subs up and change the direction of the ports to face the trunk so the bass can travel further?

the ports should be on the same side as the subs if I remember correctly.

Yes. Ditch the bandpass and either go with ported, with the ports on the same side as the sub, or sealed.
