I wish I could give up my M-16 right now... I don't want to carry that damn thing back with me. I also got to bring along a Beretta 9mm. Man I got to start mailing stuff home. Otherwise I'm going to have a lot of bags to drag along.
47 days huh... that's short. I spent a 120 in Iraq... fun fun, getting shot at every other day... and I'm doing another 120 here in Afghan. Back to back. Air Force usually don't get screwed like I did. I haven't seen my wife and kids for 7 months now.
I feel sorry for some of the army guys though.. a year!!! Forget that. It's no wonder 30% of all divorces in the country last year came from the army alone.
They need to bring those guys back.

They need to bring those guys back.iraq? lol.......youd hate it, i was there for 350 days.......got to leave a few weeks early since i was shipping off to a new unit. *sigh* oh well, its what i signed up for, the good outweighs the bad big time.
2 Da Max.......those things wouldnt be very good in any kind of urban combat, too long and takes too long to raise them up and aim. a smaller weapon would be better. but then again, i guess people dont see people walking around with an m16 all the time, they might just get scared right off the bat.
want a big gun? hows this......the Paladin system isnt a tank but basicly a 155mm gun on tracks.....so many cool rounds too. theres one round, 155 he with flechettes(a metal needle). there are 10,000 of the needles in the round, it explodes overhead and rains down making Iraqi-kabobs.

or theres my fave, the 120mm apds-t round......fired from our own m1a1/2 tanks. that "spike" in the front of this round punches through enemy armored vehicles and tanks......and since tanks are sealed and air tight guess what happens to EVERYTHING inside when that spike drives through.......yep, vacuum time! everything, people included, are sucked out through a hole about the size of a softball. human-jello time.

sorry.......just thought you guys wouldnt mind a few tidbits of info on military ammo/weapons. being an ammo specialist i get to play with all the cool stuff. greanades anyone?

I had a decent assignment... Kirkuk. Nice and quiet up there
Of course that was because the Kurdish had moved into the area. Doesn't mean we didn't get shot at. I was driving one day and a 107mm rocket landed less than 100 yards away from my truck. I got to drive around a little Nissan D21 Crewcab while I was there.
That sucker hit the ground, of course the insurgents can't afford real rockets so it didn't blow. But it shook my truck around... I downshifted that sucker into 2nd and floored it. I tell you what, that little thing had some power.
We had a lot of other "great" experiences too, but I can't go into those. But I tell you what, this place I'm at now... it's ghetto. It's been operating longer than kirkuk, but the quality of living is a joke. I'd rather have spent my 4 months here back in Kirkuk instead.
And the Iraqis weren't as bad as the Afghanies... OMG.

well i mean like it wont shoot the bullet in the chamber if the cartridge is out. i mean you never know... get in close combat and u can click the cartridge out and thus your attacker cant shoot you if some STRANGE reason you lose your own gun in a fight. its very off the wall but you never know.
