Crossover Question

i have 2 10" infinity kappa perfect 10.1 subs hooked up to a alpine MRD-M605 amp i would like to get a crossover for the subs but i know almost nothin about them, other then the block out certian frequiences. What crossover should i get, or do i even need 1? how much of a difference would i hear

Well the amount of difference you would hear depends upon how you have your system setup.

If your subs are in a vented box... with a bridged amp... it's almost pointless. EQs are excellent for sound quality setups. You wouldn't notice much of a difference besides the signal being cleared up a little.

If you have them in a sealed box... with the wiring 1 sub per channel... this will clear up a lot of the signal. Allow for crisper bass. But you don't really need a EQ if you have a Class D amp. It's built in processor clears up a lot of the signal.

That amp has a x'over:

Bass Engine® features:
low-pass digital filter, 30-200 Hz, with a selectable 12 or 24 dB/octave slope
• selectable subsonic filter (off, 15Hz, or 30 Hz with 24 dB/octave slope
• Bass EQ (0-16 dB at 45 Hz)

You should probably set it for between 80-100Hz, but listen to it, while you're adjusting, and see where you like it best.
