Speakers

so anyways, ever since i got my headunit my speakers started to sound reallllly ****ty. its a sony deck that gets 52x4 watts..so my stock non-bose speakers sound like complete crap. i need some suggestions for speakers..maybe ones that don't need an amp...or do all of the speakers need an amp?

just looking for good/affordable speakers...any ideas are welcome.

Go to your local store and listen. Then buy on the internet

Just look for stuff in the price range you want. Stock speakers are absolute junk. It's all uphill from here.

for mainstream stuff, Pioneer is decent, Infinity Kappas or maybe Alpine, but theres better stuff than those out there if you're willing to pay the money

Why does everyone like Kappa's? I auditioned them A/B against their reference series, and I thought reference sounded better with the same wattage.

...So that at some point, all the good stores won't be around to listen to anything anymore! Good advice.

Not true. Most consumers are idiots ... they buy it right there and then and want the store to install it for them too. If it wasn't for them, you're right ... the stores wouldn't be there. Do you know what the markup is on auto electronics????????

The Kappas are about the same as the References... at the same wattage, they shine when you give them a bit more juice.

They do sound better with more power, agreed. However, I think it's just my ears as I don't prefer hard dome tweeters. Silk domes are my fav

And any Infiniti Sub is good in my book, especially when run off an MTX Audio MXA series amp, deep, crisp, responsive bass with no muddiness or boominess.

humm, im no audiophile or nothing, but ive been happy with alpines type R coaxs 6.5s and also orion p2 6.5 components.... picked up both for just over 200 bucks on ebay.... had the orions installed over a year. with a 75 rms watt amp, still sounding good....
