For those of you wondering if the Eclipse AVN will play VCDs....
I recently contacted Eclipse to ask if the AVN5435 will play VCDs and also if they ever gonna release a firmware for the slow mp3 player.
this is what i got from their rep:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
The AVN5435 can play mp3(on CD, CD-R, CDRW) , audio cd's (WAV, CDA)
and dvd movies. The unit will not play VCD's.
In regads to the mp3, that was specification issue and we are in the works for that.
Hopefully we will have a fix in a couple of weeks.
AVN/AVX Support Line

They responded within 24 hours, so this shows me their customer support is top-notch.
And i'm also glad that they are working on the slow MP3 issue.

wtf no offense but thats really sad that it can't play vcd's...i say make one and try it anyway. it just makes no sense why it won't do it and i doubt eclipse left out the technology for "safety reasons".

well not alot of dvd players do. now i'm noticing that alot more do play them but almost everytime the sound is out of sync with the video. i mean even the ps2 can't play vcd's so its not like everything else but hte avn does. but like the other guy said, dvd burners are easy to get and so are blank dvd's. besides, why would u want a 2 disc movie when u could have a 1 disc dvd. and if u are trying to put visuals together with music to watch while listening, i'm pretty sure there are programs to convert them into the proper format for a dvd. just need to know where to look.

Adaptec easy CD creator can make music videos on DVD format (mpeg4).
Not a big deal.
Just get a Plextor DVD burner, only $129 from amazon.com. It comes with all the software u need, plus is the best Burner in the market.

True Plextor is one of the BEST in the market! All the burners I have is made by Plextor. Dvd is getting cheaper so why not go with the better and newer technology.
