Help!!!

I just installed a new head unit today. It is a JVC G800 and is replacing an older sony explode unit. Everything sounds good except the bass coming from the sub in the trunk is noticeably weaker. The guy at the place I bought it from didn't know his @$$ from a hole in the ground and was no help with this issue. And yes, I've played with all the sound levels, frequencies, etc. Can anyone offer some helpful input?

What kind of sub? How much power are you supplying to it? What kind of box are you using?

Infiniti reference 12'' custom made ported box and an old-school pyramid super blue amp (hey, it works). That shouldn't matter, though since I was happy with its performane up until yesterday when the new head unit, which SHOULD be a step up, was installed.

Try reversing the phase on the subwoofer, sometimes this help improve the overall bass response. You do this by connecting the negative wire from the amp to the positive terminal of the speaker, and the positive wire from the amp to the negative terminal of the speaker.

Also if the RCA preout signal (voltage) is not the same as your older unit, you may have to re-adjust the gains on the amp.

did you disconnect your sub at all? if so you could be in incorrect phase... try switching the wire on the positive terminal to the negitive, and vice versa. this happen to me once and it turned out just had the wires backwards inside the sub box...

Got it taken care of. Cheap-@$$ walmart RCA's were a part of the problem. The deck also had some problems. both things are replaced now and I even bought a new amp!!!
I finally can leave my audio alone and do some other upgrades.

You are never truly finished with the audio . Just give it some time.
