CD skips = use lens cleaner?

I have this Philips lens and cd cleaner kit and I was just wondering if the lens cleaner works on headunits. It says don't stick it in an XBOX or game console but other CD, DVD, CD-RW, DVD-RW are ok. It's a disk that has two sets of bristles on it in about the middle of the disk one is red one is black. It kinda looks like a toothbrush. Anyone ever use something like this on their headunit? Anyone recomment something else to clean headunits or prevent skipping. I have a Pioneer 8600 and it skips on CDs that I know are good.

Have a shop realign the head's laser pickup. Brush cleaners usually don't really do much but satisfy **** preventative-maintenance types who think they're doing something productive.
