I have the eclipse cd5425 and all of a sudden my speakers will go out and but the bass will stay on, then the bass will go out for a sec, then they all come back on. could it just be a loose connection with all my rca's or have any of these units had a problem? and once i turn it to the radio, its fine.

 

do you run amps to your speakers?

 

Does it happen after you have been playing it for a while? Sounds like the amps are overheating.

no it happened today 2 min after i turned the car on. i know its not an overheating issue because it only lasts a few secs sometimes. and like is aid...right when i turn the car on.

 

i say trobleshoot your 4 ch amp....its the one powering the speakers that are cutting off....

is there a protection light on your amps? This could happen if....you have some speakers out of phase, or you amp is clipping(gains set too high), or simply amplifier is malfunctioning due to a speaker short, bad ground...etc...

 

i know this is somewhat off the topic - but why does the title of your thread target don specifically? yea, hes good with car audio and he's got credibility with eclipse knowledge, however your question is very general and can certainly be answered/troubleshot by others on this forum, as it has been.

with that being said - check all your connections first. meter them and most likely u will find something there, or its your amp itself.

Merovi, sounds like an amp issue, or at very least wiring. I sell mostly 5425s due to their price and havent had one come back yet.

oo ok, i had called my dealer 2 days ago [lol i was desperate] she told me 220, plus tax and install so it might come up to 270 fawk that

i asked don because he sells alot of eclipse units and know far more about them then any local shop around here. This problem JUST started happening and is very intermittant. It is usually just when i turn the car on. Sometimes both sounds go out and then come back on within 10 secs or less. No lights come on from my amps. Sometimes when the bass cuts out it sounds almost as if some bass is still going but the song is suppose to be pounding.

i'm no where near don. I'm asking him because he is a knowledgable eclipse dealer. Not that i want it to happen but i'm hoping its as simple as something loose in the deck and it just has to be replaced. This never happened with any other decks and nothing was changed at all. this just started happening a few days ago(maybe a week tops) and only when i just start the car. for some reason it hasn't happened yet while driving.

 

Like many have said it might be a wiring being shorted. This will cause the radio to go silent. Maybe a stereo shop can put a meter on the wirings to check for you.
