Sub going on and off?

Whats up, I just got a PG xenon 12d4 and an infinity 610a amp, Everything was working fine for the 1st week it was in, now the sub goes on in off in the middle of songs? I can turn the HU off and turn it back on and it will work then go off again and come back on etc. Anyone know what this could be?

Amp overheating... bad ground, bad remote connection, bad wiring connections. Basically just check all your wiring over again.

+1, turn it up and check the 'clip' light on the front of the infinity amp. assuming its installed correctly id say gains too high.

I assume you didnt go to the All FL .org meet yesterday? I was going to offer my services but I dont think a trip to Clearwater is necessary for such a small problem. Im in Gainesville now, and Palm Harbor (just north of clearwater) where the parents live.

sorry for the hijack but im hijacking related to the thread starter so oh well

You definitely missed out on a good meet, there were 36 cars, and the people from Miami (and the rest of the east coast) and Tampa and Gainesville came out to Orlando for it. Biggest FL meet weve ever had. Check the Southeast US forum for future meets.

Quick ? Do you want your amp to clip when your bass hits hard?

No, clipping will blow the speaker. A very minimal amount when you have it cranked way up and you should be okay.

My amp seems to be clipping even with the volume very low? My amp is 657 watts rms and my sub is 500 watts rms. Even with the input level half way and everything else set halfway it still clips?
