avic-d1 quetions on navi while driving

Hey guys i need some help i am planning to buy the pioneer avic-d1 and i need a couple quetions answared

1. How can i have full use of my navi while driving so i dont have to pull over in order to change the address. I read that you can but a togle switch on the speed sensor and when i need to imput an address while driving i flip the switch, what are the cons of not having the speed sensor pluged in.

2. While moving, am i able to watch dvds from and extrernal dvd player, and listen to cds?

See my installation thread... supposedly, if you cut the GPS wire connection (just ground is fine), VSS, AND ground the parking brake simultaneously, it will allow you input address while driving. If you just ground parking brake it won't work. (mine says "improper connection of parking brake detected", and locks out those features). My avic D1 is installed properly for now, so I can't verify that this is true, it's just a rumor i heard.

(The stopping to change navi is not as big of a deal as I had originally thought... I usually change it at a stop light anyway, so no biggie to pull the parking brake as well.)

Nope... when you switch the AV to DVD player it says "watching videos while driving is strictly prohibited", or something like that. if the above fix works, then you sacrifice navi while watching DVD's.

Yeah, but you supposedly need to knock out the GPS as well... it makes perfect sense, your nav system kinda needs to know where you are in order to function! There really is no reason they even need a parking brake lead, unless they WANT to make it easy for you to bypass the lockout (ahem... eclipse).

P.S. Like i've said, the lockout isn't as bad as I had originally thought. I've found that 100% of the time so far, i've only set the navi while sitting at a stoplight, or stuck in traffic, etc. It only gets bothersome when i would like my passenger to be able to change destination.

In either case, most new cars with stock navi come with similar restrictions. It's just something we're going to have to accept as a society teeming with lawyers.
