2 blue neon tubes in each chamber and one white strobe in each

1 inch plexigalss with a 1/2 inch sandblasted trim so at night the trim looks like its glowing

i have a rockford component system and i put the 4" speakers on the back and the tweaters on the side plastic panels by the rear window they sound better there in my opinion. I think you can hear the highs better. But it depends with other people. Other than that you got a really nice setup. although the weight from the subs is a problem i had 2 12" pioneers. I sold them cause they were like 100 pounds. Instead i got a Rockford 15" Dual Voice Coil on ebay for 77 bux new. its like 3 times lighter than 2 12"s and pounds a lot harder than 2 twelves especially since its dual voice coil. If i were to suggest anything if you want a big woofer get the 15". Just my opinion your good with what you got anyways

I got a '95 SE and was wonderin' if anyone else with a system has done anything to their trunk to reduce the rattling. I have a Audiobahn bandpass box with 3 10" subs. Sounds great but the trunk rattles a lot.

i was into car audio long before i got my maxima, I have a fair amount of sound deadening on the trunk lid and the rest of the trunk. Its the paint on kind and works well. It reduces rattles a lot but it is very difficult to completely eliminate them all together. I should link u to mine (still in progress, but functioning).

I currently am running:
pioneer 960mp premier
jbl px300.4
jbl crown 1100.1
cdt hdcf62's (front speakers, components)
and a 15 inhuman, (ported in 3.5 foot box tuned to 32hz)
yellow top battery
0 awg wiring to the block. All knu Konceptz wiring

I can go into more detail on how to lower the rattles if u are interested. As of now (not done tuning it) mine stuff sounds real clean, has no distortion, and is loud enough to be a pa system for a football field lol.

My nissan is on page 6 and up if u are interested. Laters guys

i dont have rear speakers dont need them. and Sound is very subjective so maybe with the tweets in the rear sound good to him, which in the end is what is important. However, that being said i wouldnt have done it either lol.

basically all the detail of music comes from infront of you. the soundstage is how the sound sounds like. IE low high etc. by putting speakers in the rear when u dont have a surround sound setup it can affect the soundstage

no i dont think so its better to put speakers in the rear deck because they reflect off the back window and come forward at you

like he said though it's how you like it and the actual sound doesnt matter besides that.
personaly i like the rear speakers bieng mids, doors mids, trunk is looow, and the eyeball tweeters in the pillars make it all sound crispy
the back seat could use tweaters though, but not without the mids.

there's this stuff called polyfill... it looks just like cotton and you can get it at any hardware store. get a big bag of that and stuff it in all the little holes in your trunklid that you can fit it in. you should be able to fit a ton of it in. there are two pieces of metal that bang up against eachother to create the rattle you hear in your trunklid. this cushions them so they dont hit eachother making it sound much quieter. also, dynamat your trunk lid, spare tire well, and license plate. it will make a huge difference. i have 900 watts and 2 12" subs and there is no rattle at all. you can see my setup:

I have 2 10" in the back, 2 6x9 in the rear deck, and the trunks wants to fall in pieces, so I could only imagine what would happen with that whole system....

Innovative idea with the gas shocks in the trunk!! What vehicle was the gas shock for, do you have a part#? I never thought of it that way. I think I can finally fit a 15" sub, in a properly constructed box, in the trunk. The only thing that was stopping me then is the tension bar that runs across from under the rear deck. Gotta start measuring stuff and maybe I can slap on my JL15w3 in it.

Port-thru design is the baddest setup of all for SPL! It alleviates major pressure from the trunk and feeds all that soundwave thru the port and into the cabin. The trunk won't fall into pieces unless you use one of these. You feed that with big power and forget about the rest of the car.

Are your amps vented at all? Seems like some major heat buildup under the box, or can I not see it?

Nice setup tho, i was thinking about the port, just seems like to much work for my simple SQL setup i'll be runing

I have polyfill in the trunk lid, but maybe I didn't get all the right spots. I'll redo it and try to get all the nooks and crannys. I had a litlle prob a while back with it though when my battery died and the trunk release wouldn't pop the trunk. the polyfill was blocking the key from turning to open the trunk. And I couln't get my jump starter out.

no i dont have a part number for the gas shocks i just measured and when to the parts store and looked at what they had and bought something that i thought would work and it did

and for the port thru box i had to cut the tension bars

sk24iam no dynomat? you must get a lot of rattling
i have everything covered in dynomat and NO its doesnt rattel at all

Well done with that trunk opening. Did you get them at a boating store? I definately want to do that if/when I run subs IB on the rear deck. any more detaled pics of this would be appreciated. VERY COOL

I'm sure if gets loud. If that was your goal, well accomplished! There are other ways to do this, which I'll explain later in case you ever choose to upgrade as far as sound quality goes but keep it loud accross the entire frequency....

The people that have chimed in talking about how they wouldn't put tweets or even mids on the rear deck are more into sound quality. Music is recorded to present itself on a soundstage in front of you. As I always hypothetically ask people, do you go to a concert and turn around so the music comes from behind you? You may reply "but music in a theatre/surround sound come from in front and behind you". Music is recorded to be heard from two channels, left and right in front of you, and movies are recorder for surround. If you could hear the way music images on a nice stereo, I think you may not look back. I come accross a lot of people who like loud systems and pile speakers in the trunk (I'm not against that!) and put mad speakers elsewhere. Generally, once they hear my car, they're interested in rethinking stereo's and how they should sound (not just my system which is nothing special...any decently tuned/imaging system).

As far as loud goes, certainly a big ported box w/ power will take care of the sub section. NO problem there. If you want loud highs, look into compression horns or ribbons. If you really want loud, look into horns. Image Dynamics (my personal fav), USD, and maybe a few other companies make them. They will take care of @1.25khtz and up and get god aweful loud off of like 10 watts (seriously, I would challenge you to sit in a car with horns and 10 real world watts going to them for 5 minutes full blast if I didn't think deafness is a bad option). Then for midrange you don't really need too much umph to get louder than people can really stand, but if you really want it, of course you can look into smaller prosound woofers...looks like you may have put some in your rear deck. I'd say look into PHL midranges. The horns and phl's are well over 95db efficient...= hardly any power at all gets incredibly loud. Then your problem area for a real loud system would be midbass. This is where you'd have to dampen the heck out of doors, put some relatively efficient 8's (or dual 6's) in there with a lot of power. This, plus some good processing and a tiny power to the horns and mids and a bunch of power to the midbass and bass + a ton of dampening will get you a real loud system that sounds great. Jason Winslow, an ID competitor as well as a few others are first and foremost into sound quality, but like I explained...they're cars get TOO LOUD...They actually had an SPL contest about a year ago to determine who's car got loudest over 100hz (non bass, loud)...Right now I believe he's running dual 8 midbasses in doors, and horns obviously.

pics..http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/gallery/jason_winslow

My system, which totally isn't designed to get loud, gets too loud for me when turned all the way up, but to each his own.....I've been there, done that.

Anyway, if you're happy with it, that is all that matters. Just want you to understand why some of us wouldn't desire a system set up like that and that there may be cooler ways to get loud should you choose to expand your horizons into the realm of sound quality.

PS....Be careful...you only have one set of ears and you wouldn't want to regret what this system did to your ears should you ever get into sound quality, or like not hearing constant ringing for the rest of your life. Get some earplugs should you want to blast it, and turn that bass down when your at the stop lights next to me OK I sound old.

Enjoy the BASS!
