Woo Hoo!!!!!

My install was completed last night!!! Many thanks to Kevin(kpr10is) and Chris(filtor1) for the great job they've done. Many thanks to Don for some great sounding components. The total install took about 13 hours or so but it was worth every minute. If anyone in FL is looking for some great installers I would highly recommend Kevin and Chris.

Kevin did a great job with wiring the amps, ipod, hu, Sirius, tweeters, and xovers. Chris is the DAMPENING KING! He also installed the 8inch IB woofer which turned out great.

I went from the stock Bose system to the following:

Eclipse CD8455
Rainbow Profi Van 6.5" (front)
Diamond D3 6" Coax (rear)
CDT EF 8 Sub
Diamond D3 400.2 - powers sub
Diamond D3 400.4
Tons of Stinger Expert Roadkill
Sirius Tuner
Ipod Adapter to Aux

Here are some pics:

http://community.webshots.com/user/stevcha

All I can say is this is by far the best sounding system I've ever had. Once Kevin got everything tuned it was just unbelievable at how everything sounded. We listened to the live version of Hotel California and I swear I thought I was at the concert.

I had an awesome time. The results were outstanding. I am very glad we could give you what you wanted.

I want Rainbows sooo very bad now. I have heard demos before but nothing compares to getting to tune them yourself. The seperation and detail were phenominal.

The CDT 8" was impressive as well. After sealing off the trunk to eliminate the back wave interfering with the front, the response as well as the output was impressive.

Diamond, I can't say enough about the quality, fit, and finish of all of thier amps. For those who know me, you knew I was going to say that.

Eclipse, same as above. I have been impressed with every Eclipse HU I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Awesome product.

Steve, thanks for the opportunity. Kevin, as always, it was great working with you.

Yeah it does. I have nothing but good things to say about the product. My hands look terrible. Cut the **** out of them. It also helped that is was 800degrees in the garage. It was like laying peanut butter.

As a fellow 8053 owner, Id recommend you not install, play with, stare at the 8455. Definitely made me want one.

To the OP, hows that Sirius? What's the monthly price and how's the programing?

Man, you tore your whole car apart!

Last question, did you have to change your altenator? How man amps can a stock Maxima alt produce?

Couple questions about the sub, did you brace the rear deck? Does it rattle? If so, how much? And was that 8 inch a tight fit? I also want to go IB with a sub in the rear deck, but I wanted to fit a 12 inch. I don't think it would work, unless I put it to the side.

Whitebread,

The only thing that had to be done to the stock Bose plate was to make a ring so that the sub could be installed using the plate. Chris dampened the whole rear deck, the sub plate, and some gaps between the trunk and cabin. There's absolutely no rattle now.

I'm still using the stock altenator and so far so good. I think the stock provides 110 amps but I'm not 100% sure. I've had some altenator whine with the Bose and current system so I think I may be upgrading the Big 3. Siruis is pretty good. They have a really large selection of programming. I paid for 2 years in advance so I got 3 months free I believe. Its a lot better than listening to normal radio. No crappy commercials, lol.

BBOYSTEVIE,

The sub actually sounds pretty good but we had to turn the gains down quite a bit on the amp. The sub does a great job for its size. As for the 8455 it has a ton of tuning adjustments such as time delay, 10 band eq, 3 xover settings for front, rear, and woofer. You can also have the hu auto tune the audio adjustments using pink noise and a mic (provided). Once the hu is done you then save your settings to the memory stick and upload it to the eclipse website where they will use the specs captured to give you the best adjustments for your car. Once you download the file you then pop it into the hu and use those settings. I haven't tried it yet cause you have to plug the mic into the back of aux port.

Good to hear about the rear deck. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do much, although, you've got an 8, I want at least a high excursion 10. Good to hear about the Altenator and Siruis as well, I hope I have the same good luck you did.

Edit:I was told that the auto tune function was garbage and will never work as well as someone who has a good ear takes their sweet time. Just wanted to let you know.

What SC2K1 already said, and the display alone is
Not to mention Sirius ready, and mp3 built in instead of having to get the Commander.

Not a fan of Sirius, have Mp3 in my DVD player, and yes, the display looks cool. Memory stick is what I'm really missing. I'd love to have that function. I'd love to hear how the auto-tuning function does. I can't see it doing as well as an ear...but who knows??? Tune by ear, save the settings, then try to auto tune, compare and post results!!!!

Enjoy the new system!

Honestly, I have the 8053. The Balanced Line Adapter and EC9004 Commander are waiting to go in. Debating selling all that, and buying something new, an AVN or an 8455. Who knows.
