I was wondering if if was possible to wire a 4th gen system deck, speakers, and all in a 3rd gen Maxima. I was wondering of you would have to rerun all the wires or if you could use the existing wiring scheme and ad two more for the tweeters that come in the 4th gen and not in the 3rd. Also if it's possible to fit those 6.5's in the doors where the existing 4's are. IF anyone can help I would appreciate it.

I don't believe they are plug and play ready but I'm sure they can be user modified to work, the systems are not that different. However the Bose system incorporates differential signals and separate relay triggers that are hard wired with the factory wiring harnesses in the doors. You would need these relays or figure out another way to make the Bose amplifiers turn on from the deck remote trigger wire. When adding the extra tweeters you will probably will need a highpass capacitor to prevent bass from frying the tweeters.

As for fitting the 6.5" speaker in the door that is not a problem but you will have to remove the existing speaker bracket and make a mounting plate out of MDF or plywood to mount the speaker on since the remaining opening is an irregular shape. I've fit an 8" Dynaudio driver in my doors of my 3rd gen.

Ok well maybe you misunderstood me. I already have a BOse in my 3rd gen and I was wondering if I can use the existing Bose wiring scheme to wire a 4th gen system into my car. I realize that some tricky work will have to be done in order to place the tweeters in the right spot, but I'm willing to do that. So what do you think?

What I'd do is visit the dealer and beg the service manager for a system wiring schematic for both systems. It will make it alot easier. In your case then they should be fairly interghangeable. There may be a couple of different connections but with the diagrams it will be easy to determine what the additional fix would be....
