question
will outside magnetic fields, such as a door jam, affect the way my 6.5s sound? I ask this because I am mounting them under the dash in fiberglass kick panels and the magnets attract to the metal thru the fiberglass around the door frame.

It may affect the strength of the field that gets used in the speaker and on the voice coil. I would suggest trying to shield the magnet some how.... BTW, I don't know how you would do that.... maybe some kind of rubber or a gasket around the magnet?

To my knowledge, this does not effect the speakers performance. If you wanted to cancel the magnets polarity, you will need another magnet of the same strength to go directly behind it, thus cancelling the magnetic field. Someone else may be able to give a better explanation of this. This is only a bit of the information I have read from some home audio subwoofer DIY forums.

well, thanks nismos and rey...I looked around and I guess it will not be affected very much, so I'll just let it be for now. Stupid how RE doesn't make grills OR rubber boots for these lil beasties. Their reason for not making the grills anyway was "we have yet to find a grill that would provide enough clearance for the excursion capabilities"...
