So I've had my sub in for a week...
ripped everything outta the trunk today to start over
Instead of rear firing, I'm goin through the seats and sealing the trunk from the cabin. It sounded good, but I want perfect
I'm also adding an amp so i can go 3 way up front, so i had to redo it anyways. The new setup also gives me more room to mount the amps...hence more trunk space for tools and stuff.
the re comps are next to go........hello peerless/scan speak front stage....

Sounds like car audio fun.
What processing you got for a 3 way frontstage? Sounds like someone's into sound quality?
Sealing the trunk from the cabin and looking for better sounding bass? Looks like time to go IB
I'm running peerless 8's (really nines ) in my doors now, by the way.

soon, soon. Too much stuff at SEMA got my juices pumping. Especially the Flat Piston sub from ARC that i saw in person. I just have to get my project car running.....

I'm running peerless 8's (really nines ) in my doors now, by the way.-XLS 8's in the doors
-dayton 5" midrange in kicks
-scan speak 6000 in kicks
-Avalanche 15 firing through the seats
-Monitor1 amps
-30 band eq's (probably eqt's)
-coustic 3way xover
Right now I'm runnin RE comps that i bought as a temporary solution during the group buy. decent set for the money, but not spectacular. ONly got it cuz of the group buy.
Why not go with an Audiocontrol crossover to compliment the eqts? I wish I could actually hear the peerless' (6.5s) in person, I hear they have a ton of bass, the 8s must be great too.
Yeah I'm running the XLS 8's and was actually running the Dayton 's in kicks for a while too. Nice setup. The XLS 8's do a helluva job on midbass in the doors. Beware, they are some big dogs...9's and then some really if you measure them
I had to "open" the speaker opening more to get the basket to fit in there. Just a lil metal trimming. After that, a 1.5" baffle with real careful placemet and a little pushing back of the window rails (don't be scared
) allwed me to drop em in pretty easily, with the door panle fitting back on for the stock look.
The dayton 's were nice too.
Your amps have no crossover, so you need 2 bandpasses, one for midrange, one for midbass, a highpass for tweets, adn of course a lowpass for subs, so a "3 way" crossover isn't going to do the trick.
Good luck!

Do your windows go all the way down? And how did ya like the daytons, what do they compare to? I went with them because i don't think theres much of an improvement in sq without spending 2-300 on a pair of high quality mids.
Oh and i have a xover on my head unit, so i only need the 3 way

Yep, windows all the way up and down no prob.
I only used the daytons for a few weeks with only my tuning, didn't bring it to a friend who tunes incredibly. I thought they were really competant speakers, darn freaking fantastic for the price. You can't get that good of a midrange ANYWHERE else for $25 new, put it that way. You shouldn't be dissapointed. I lil warmer then the Seas Excel which to me is ok, less surgical, but darn near as detailed which is incredible. Easy to work with, just make sure you don't cross it over too high/shallow, as it will exhibit a lil peak at 8-10 khz if ya dont. Wasn't a problem crossed over at 18 db anywhere under 3k for me. In my install at least, a good cut at 250-400hz did wonders.
