spare area cover?

I havent seen any posts on this yet. In my trunk, 4th geni have the carpet then a flimsy piece of wood that bends down with the smallest amount of weight. i am putting in a sub and an amp, and im gonna need to use the space over the spare for storage. what, if anything did people do to fix this little problem? did you make a new one out of ply? or something different? Thanks for any input

I have a false floor made out of MDF. I have a removable piece above the spare tire well big enough to get the spare out. I haven't had the ***** to get rid of the spare, yet. With my luck, as soon as I take it out, I'll get a flat.

I did mine myself. Just grab some thin MDF and if you want to be precise you can make a paper template and then cut it out with a jigsaw. I just kinda guessed it and you wouldnt know cuz the rug covers it up. BTW, dont bother covering the back half of the trunk, because it slopes up. Just cover the first half (over the spare), this aslo keeps the weight down. Oh, and another thing, put some sort of foam or rubber on the bottom, between the metal and MDF-- no rattles.

trace it out on 1/4 mdf @ least and cut it with a jig. I used half, you can do this to the shape of the carpet and make the trunk level or go to the shape of the center piece like i did.

ya lol me too, I know I'd get a flat tire as soon as my spare leaves the trunk.
